Cycling the Shimanami Kaido Cycling Route near Onomichi, Hiroshima Prefecture, Japan

It’s so hot. It’s so hot and yet we are going on a bike ride. That’s how dedicated we are to seeing Japan. Obviously we need to get a good breakfast to get started. The doughnuts are really good for energy.
One of those. I’m having one of these. And a croissant too. Just need some coffee to get going. Chocolate jelly. Chocolate jelly. It’s when you bite into it
and it wobbles. We are here this morning, in Onomichi. Well,
quite early for us anyway. And we are going to be doing the Shimanami Kaido cycle route. I have to read it as I can’ t pronounce it. Which is supposed to be one of the most beautiful cycle routes around. And it takes in seven bridges and six islands and you go over the bridges and hop onto the islands. It’s kind of island hopping. With bridges. So we’re going to cycle it. A choice of bicycles. You probably want something with a few gears. And small enough for you to get onto. We’ve already been back to the bike shop once but now we’re off. Let’s go. That’s the bridge there, look. On this big map. Where? There? But on this map it doesn’t seem to be there. Even the vending machines here are branded with a cycling map. Because you can go the whole way, if you want to.
It’s 140km. So are we in the Easter Islands now? The weather looks dodgy ahead. It’s started to rain. 550 million coke machines in Japan but never one when you want one. Yay How did you find the Shimanami Kaido Cycle Route? It’s nice and easy, it’s not too hilly. And
a little bit wet. Why can’t we go on motorcycles?
