How to replace front wheel bearing / front hub bearing on OPEL ZAFIRA-B 2 (A05) [TUTORIAL AUTODOC]


Required tools:
Wire brush
WD-40 spray
Brake cleaner
Copper grease
Combination spanner #17 Drive socket # E13
Drive socket # 18
Drive socket # 19
Drive socket # 32
HEX bit no.H5.
HEX bit no.H7. Wheel impact socket #17
Ratchet wrench
Torque wrench
Pin punch
Hammer Flat chisel
Rubber mallet
Tap wrench
Crow bar
Wheel chock 1. Loosen the wheel mounting bolts.
Use wheel impact socket #17. 2. Unscrew the fastener connecting the drive shaft to the wheel hub.
Use a drive socket #32.
Use a tap wrench. 3. Raise the front of the car and secure on supports. 4. Unscrew the wheel bolts. 5. Remove the dust boot caps of the brake caliper guide pins.
Use a crowbar. 6. Unscrew the brake caliper fastening.
Use HEX No.H7.
Use a ratchet wrench. 7. Spread the brake pads.
Use a crowbar. 8. Pull aside the brake caliper retaining spring.
Use a crowbar. 9. Remove the brake caliper. 10. Remove the brake pads. 11. Clean the brake caliper bracket fasteners.
Use a wire brush.
Use WD-40 spray. 12. Unscrew the caliper bracket fastening.
Use a drive socket #18.
Use a tap wrench. 13. Remove the caliper bracket 14. Clean the brake disc fasteners.
Use a wire brush.
Use WD-40 spray. 15. Unscrew the brake disc fastening
Use HEX No.H5.
Use a ratchet wrench. 16. Remove the brake disc. AUTODOC recommends:
If necessary, use a rubber mallet. 17. Unscrew the wheel hub axle nut.
Use a drive socket #32. 18. Remove the drive shaft. 19. Clean the fastener that connects the ball joint to the steering knuckle.
Use a wire brush.
Use WD-40 spray. 20. Unscrew the ball joint fastening to the steering knuckle.
Use a combination spanner #17. Use a drive socket #19.
Use a ratchet wrench. 21. Remove the fastening bolt.
Use a pin punch.
Use a rubber mallet. 22. Release the fastener that connects the control arm ball joint to the steering knuckle.
Use a flat metal-working chisel.
Use a hammer. 23. Disconnect the lower arm from the steering knuckle. 24. Remove the drive shaft. 25. Clean the hub bearing mounting seat.
Use a wire brush.
Use WD-40 spray. 26. Detach the ABS sensor connector. 27. Unscrew the hub bearing mounting.
Use a drive socket #E13.
Use a ratchet wrench.
Use a tap wrench. 28. Remove the hub and the bearing together, since they are a sealed unit. 29. Clean the hub bearing mounting seat.
Use a wire brush.
Use WD-40 spray. 30. Install the new wheel hub with a bearing. 31. Tighten the fastener of the wheel hub bearing.
Use a drive socket #E13. Use a torque wrench.
Tighten it to 75 nm torque. 32. Clean the splines of the drive shaft CV joint.
Use a wire brush.
Use WD-40 spray. 33. Mount the drive shaft into the wheel hub. 34. Connect the lower arm to the steering knuckle. 35. Install the fastening bolt. 36. Tighten the ball joint fastener.
Use a combination spanner #17. Use a drive socket #19.
Use a torque wrench.
Tighten it to 55 Nm torque. 37. Attach the ABS sensor connector. 38. Treat the splines of the driveshaft CV joint.
Use copper grease. 39. Screw the wheel hub axle nut.
Use a drive socket #32. 40. Treat the hub where it contacts the brake disk.
Use copper grease. 41. Install the brake disc. 42. Tighten the brake disc fastening.
Use HEX No.H5. Use a torque wrench.
Tighten it to 9 Nm torque. 43. Install the brake caliper bracket 44. Tighten the brake caliper bracket
Use a drive socket #18. Use a torque wrench.
Tighten it to 75 Nm torque. 45. Install the brake pads. 46. Install the brake caliper and fix it. 47. Tighten the brake caliper fasteners.
Use HEX No.H7. Use a torque wrench.
Tighten it to 35 Nm torque. 48. Install the dust boot caps of the brake caliper guide pins. 49. Snap the brake caliper retaining spring back into place.
Use a crowbar. 50. Treat the surface where the brake disc contacts the wheel rim.
Use copper grease. 51. Clean the brake disk surface.
Use a brake cleaner. AUTODOC recommends:
After applying the spray, wait a few minutes. 52. Screw in the wheel bolts.
Use wheel impact socket #17. AUTODOC recommends:
To avoid injury, hold up the wheel when screwing in the fastening bolts. 53. Lower the car. 55. Tighten the drive shaft nut.
Use a drive socket #32.
Use a torque wrench.
Tighten it to 145 Nm torque. 56. Tighten the wheel bolts using a criss-cross pattern.
Use a torque wrench.
Tighten it to 120 Nm torque.
