Trek Domane ALR 4 Disc | Winter Bikes Special | Cycling Weekly

So here we have the Trek Domane ALR
4 Disc. Trek has built a winter bike utilising its innovation in comfort and
reliability. Clearly at no cost of the looks either with this sleek paint job and
Tiagra groupset and these tubeless ready Bontrager wheels. Trek has
transferred its ISO speed tech through its highest spec to Domane and Madone
race bikes. ISO speed adds a linkage between the seat tube and the top tube
allowing the seat tube to flex when you hit a bump. The technology has already
proven wins with races such as Paris-Roubaix and is now set on the ALR 4. ISO speed is coupled to a lightweight frameset with the sophisticated tube
shapes made from a Trek’s alpha aluminium. The frame uses Trek’s invisible world
tech increasing frame strength without additional weight. Trek adds a slender
all-carbon ISO speed fork for additional ride comfort. Trek augments the comfort
package with wide 32mm tyres allowing you to run lower
pressures and also providing extra wet weather grip. They’re tubeless ready so you
can add sealant for puncher protection too. There’s the option to fit mudguards
too. With hidden mudguard mounts built into the frame for a tidy look if you
decide to go mudguard free during the summer months.
Another winter friendly innovation is the blender stem, which allows easy
fitment of mounts for lights and computers. There’s plenty of gear range
from the Shimano Tiagra groupset which has inherited the smooth shifting tech
from Shimano’s higher spec groupsets. It’s coupled with Shimano’s RS505
hydraulic disc brakes with finned rotors and pads for confident stopping power in
cold and wet as well as hot and dry conditions. Trek also offers an unusually
wide range of frame sizes for the Domane ALR, with 9 sizes starting
from 44 centimetres and going up to the 62 centimetre size frame. There’s a women’s
geometry version available too. Trek have built the Domane ALR 4 to be a
reliable performance focused machine with the staying power to keep you
rolling through the cold and damp of the typical British winter.

  1. As much as I like trek bikes I wouldn't get the tiagra version anyway. Since I live where no winter bike is needed I can afford to have only one bike.

  2. Invisible Weld Technology? Take a look at those welds = I don't think so! I know Trek uses Invisible Weld Technology on some of their bikes as i have one, but they don't use it on this one as can be witnessed by looking at those welds!!

  3. Isospeed works only with carbon frames, more flexibel! aluminium is not, the alr 4 & 5 is a plaine aluminium bike it comes with isospeed on the back, but it looks like it!

  4. OK, so you made a video showing us the bike, but didn't describe it's ride qualities at all. Was this just a commercial? I kept watching thinking this guy has got to mention his opinion at some point – nope. I could have gathered more information from going to the trek website.
